How to stop emotional eating: "digesting" the emotions

In order for a woman to fall in love with the body she is in, she needs (often with some extra support) to allow the feelings she experiences when she looks at her current form so she can begin to open her heart to the parts of herself that have been driving the behaviors that are keeping her stuck.

These feelings can include:
Shame (for not being able to control herself)
Disappointment (for the times she put her heart and soul into diets that gave her hope they would help her)
Despair (if things will ever change)
Worry (how she will figure it out)
Powerlessness (pining for something/one to make things better)
Self-doubt (not willing to trust herself based on previous decisions)
Anger (for the ways she's been conditioned to think about her body and how to care for it)
Frustration (about the ways her body responds- or doesn't)

She needs to experience these feelings because underneath them, is the wisdom she's been craving. The guidance that feels congruent for her... that she can follow intuitively.

She will shift into seeing...
Shame as her human limits (i.e. when she feels hungry, thirsty, tired, restless, etc)
Disappointment as feedback that she needs more/different information or support so she can find what feels right for her
Despair as an opportunity to get to experience a deeper connection with the parts of her that have felt fragile (and previously kept her from feeling proud of herself)
Worry as the part of her that genuinely wants for her to succeed
Powerlessness as a space to see how capable and (divinely) supported she is
Self-Doubt as the way all her experiences are lining up to help her reach her goals in the most unique way possible
Anger as a chance to rewrite history- to take what works for her- and offer a new narrative to her future self and children
Frustration will endear her to her own humanity, learning to love and honor the way her body and her experience in it provide opportunities for authentic connection with others.

Each emotion provides vital nutrients for her spirit to grow and flourish in the same way food fuels her physical frame.

When a woman is able to "digest" each of these emotions, she grows stronger and more resilient, able to step up in bigger ways in her life (i.e. speaking up at work, sharing her inner world, stepping into conflict by asking for what she needs, etc).

This step is important because if she doesn't have the inner structure to support herself emotionally, she will unconsciously hide from people, experiences, and opportunities in her environment.

She will not be willing to show up and be SEEN physically because these emotions will be activated and they can be painful to deal with (especially in front of someone else).

Just like the body, poor digestion is an option- but if she continues down that route, the build-up in her nervous system and create more discomfort to soothe (usually with behaviors that do not support her health).

I've created a system to help women identify the emotions underneath their eating patterns so they can take courageous steps toward "digesting" them. In my program, Nourished, you can learn how to use your emotions (and your appetite) to create a totally different experience with food and your body.

This program is designed for "deep-feelers" who have made attempts at weight loss through restriction and discipline and want to feel stable around food. I help clients feel secure throughout the weight loss journey using body-based tools to transform how she engages with her emotions and with food. I had a client share last week that she no longer doubts herself when dining out or feels the need to "control portions" because she trust herself now.

If you are looking for this type of transformation, check out my program Nourished: How to Use Your Appetite to Heal Your Relationship with Food. I'm enrolling 1:1 spots this month! Email me to see if it's the right fit for you (I’ll ask a few questions about what you’ve tried in the past, what has/hasn’t “worked” for you, and answer any questions you have) and we can get started right away!
